Man stabbed at Steuben Street playground early Tuesday
CLINTON HILL — A 21-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS STABBED in the stomach at a Brooklyn playground early Tuesday morning, according to FOX News and other local sources. The stabbing victim, who was found by police at around 8:45 a.m. at the Steuben Playground, was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and pronounced dead.
In July, the same park was the site of one of three homicides during a night of violence tied to two nearby migrant shelters; a city parks worker allegedly shot a Venezuelan man who was sleeping outside at the playground, according to Gothamist. The worker, Elijah Mitchell, age 23, of Queens, was charged with murder as a hate crime over the shooting of Arturo Jose Rodriguez, age 30, which was allegedly motivated by anger about migrants camping in the park. Two other shooting deaths outside a nearby shelter were suspected to be gang-related.
The suspect fled the scene of the playground, and NYPD is investigating. A suspect has not been identified as of Wednesday morning; the victim’s name has not been released.
