Prospect Park Stroller Walk

Nature, Community, Exercise

Audubon Center, 101 East Dr., Prospect Park

Thursday, Nov. 14, from 10-11 a.m.

Parents and caregivers with young children are invited to join a Prospect Park Alliance staff member for a relaxed morning walk along the park’s scenic waterways. Participants can enjoy the peaceful sounds of flowing streams, birdsong and the fragrance of blooming flowers while exploring Prospect Park’s towering trees and natural beauty.

The walk departs promptly at 10 a.m. from the Prospect Park Audubon Center. Stroller walks take place every Thursday through November.

“The Alliance’s founding mission is to ensure that the park is accessible to everyone, and that all feel welcomed and able to make the most of all that Brooklyn’s Backyard has to offer. Key to this goal is having park destinations like our new fitness area, which is an intergenerational destination for wellness and allows our community to be their happiest, healthiest selves and know that the park is a place for all.” — Prospect Park Alliance President Morgan Monaco, via Patch.com

“Prospect Park, which welcomes Brooklynites from every zip code in the borough and beyond, provides 585 acres of green space in the heart of Brooklyn. It is home to the borough’s last remaining forest and only lake, and for many Brooklynites is their main connection to nature.” — Sheila Barksdale-Gordon, Dionne Grayman & Morgan Monaco, Brooklyn Paper

Candid Comedy is the latest go-to for stand-up fans, showcasing a rotating host and a lineup of NYC’s most unfiltered comedians. Audiences can expect faces from iconic venues like New York Comedy Club and The Comedy Cellar, plus talent seen on Comedy Central, HBO, Netflix and more.

November’s show is hosted by Alexis Bradby and features comedians Asad Benbow, Grace Johnson, Glorelys Mora and Nore Davis, with surprise guests likely to drop by. The night kicks off with music and happy hour at 7 p.m., followed by the show at 8 p.m.

“I’m a stand-up comedian, first and foremost, but because it’s 2023 that means I’m also a TV writer, actress, editor, marketing team, etc. Gone are the days of just doing and being good at one thing. Now you have to be good at showing everyone that you’re good at several things.” — Alexis Bradby, Bold Journey

“Asad Benbow is a New York based stand up comedian, who will be seen on the upcoming season of ‘Wild N’ Out,’ where he won the ‘Rookie of The Year’ title. He also was a Comic to Watch in the 2023 New York Comedy Festival.” — The Stand

“Grace Johnson is a Nigerian comedian, television writer and voiceover actor based in New York City. She is a series regular on ‘The God Pod’ (Apple Top 50 Podcast) and previously consulted on CBC’s TV show ‘Virgins!’ Johnson is a sought after stand up performer and can be seen performing around the country.” — GraceJohnsonComedy.com

Gabriel Iglesias: Don’t Worry Be Fluffy Tour @ King’s Theatre

Comedy, Stand-up

King’s Theatre, 1027 Flatbush Ave, Prospect Park South

Friday, Nov. 15 @ 8 p.m.

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will perform live at King’s Theatre on Friday. Known for his relatable humor and energetic stage presence, Iglesias recently became the second highest-grossing touring comedian and holds over 1.1 billion views on Youtube in addition to 25 million social media followers.

The Hollywood Reporter included Iglesias in their “Top 40 Comedy Players” issue, alongside legends like Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Lorne Michaels. Last year, he graced the cover of Variety’s comedy issue.

“There are many things that separate Iglesias from his peers. The San Diego native doesn’t really have an act. Iglesias, 48, just tells relatable stories, which are like potato chips. One anecdote leads to another with fans sitting on the edge of their seats as the everyman humorist delivers the voice of each character.” — Ed Condran, The Gazette

“As the youngest of six children, raised by a single mother in Long Beach, world-renowned comedian Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias says he never imagined that he would be recognized by his hometown for what he does. … Iglesias was presented with a Key to the City by Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson on Tuesday, June 18.” — Christina Merino, The Long Beach Press-Telegram

Twenty years later, it has grown into a bustling, sprawling staple of the comedy season, featuring more than 100 shows, big and small, in every borough. The festival begins Thursday and runs through Nov. 17.” — Jason Zinoman, The New York Times

“Founded by the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation in 1972 during the height of the Black Arts movement, the Billie opened as a means of exposing America to Bedford-Stuyvesant, one of its largest artistic Black communities. Since its inception, the Billie has elevated and promoted the critical voices of artists in the Black diaspora such as Samuel L. Jackson, Debbie Allen, Tichina Arnold, Bill Cobbs, Smokey Robinson, Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, Carol Woods, Elaine Graham and Ebony JoAnn.” — American Theatre
