NATIONWIDE –VERIZON FIOS SERVICE has been restored in cities along the East Coast following a Monday night outage, according to a spokesperson for the company. “A network issue early this morning disrupted service for some Verizon Fios customers in the Northeast for a short period of time. As soon as the issue was identified, our engineering teams quickly restored the service,” Verizon wrote in a response.

Users of the service began reporting outages on Monday night into early Tuesday morning, reports NDTV. Thousands of customers submitted complaints, mostly related to internet service; web company Down Detector’s service outage heat map showed high concentrations of reports in Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia and Boston.

“We don’t have full details just yet” on the scope or source of the problem, one Verizon user was told by the company. Another user in Maryland was given a service restoration estimate of 11 a.m. EST on Monday, reports the New York Post.

This is a developing story.
