Scarcella-Spanton wins in southern Brooklyn, Staten Island

BAY RIDGE – STATE SEN. JESSICA Scarcella-Spanton handily defeated Republican challenger Marko Kepi on Tuesday in the race for the southern Brooklyn – Staten Island 23rd state Senate District seat, reports SI Live. Scarcella-Spanton took around 55% of the vote to her opponent’s 45%, increasing her margin of victory from 2022, when the political newcomer edged out Republican Joseph Tirone by just over 1,000 votes.

In 2022, Tirone carried the southern Brooklyn portion of the 23rd, while Staten Island preferred Scarcella-Spanton.
