Ballot scanners reportedly fixed at Park Slope polling site after outage on Tuesday morning
PARK SLOPE — ELECTION DAY HAS ALREADY SEEN TECHNICAL SNAFUS IN BROOKLYN, when at least one voter at Middle School 51 on Fifth Ave. in Park Slope reported that the ballot scanners were temporarily malfunctioning on Tuesday morning, Nov. 5, reports the neighborhood news website Patch. Patch updated its story around 11 a.m. with the news that the scanners were again operational. Park Slope voter Miyuki Miyagi was frustrated upon discovering that several ballot scanners at her local polling place were non-functional around 8:30 a.m. She notified the Board of Elections and told Patch that people voting there were instructed to place their ballots in emergency ballot boxes, for scanning later that day When she returned to her polling precinct a couple of hours later, she found all the scanners had been fixed.
Miyagi observed that, during her first trip to the polling precinct, the emergency ballot boxes had filled up quickly.
