EAST NEW YORK – THE PARKS DEPARTMENT on Wednesday held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated basketball courts at East New York’s Breukelen Ballfields, reports the Brooklyn Paper. With $1.8 million in aid from Nets/Liberty co-owner Clara Wu Tsai’s Social Justice Fund foundation, the courts were given freshly painted pavement, new hoops, new bleachers and water bottle stations, among other upgrades. Parks chief Sue Donoghue, along with students and staff from nearby P.S. 325, attended the ceremony, where Wu Tsai emphasized her commitment to the Brooklyn borough and its community, working through the Adopt-A-Park program.

Wu Tsai, along with her husband Joe Tsai, is a frequent philanthropist and is very active in Brooklyn’s different neighborhoods, also funding renovations at two playgrounds in Crown Heights and Flatlands.
