SUNSET PARK — PARTS OF SUNSET PARK WILL BE CLEANER now with the launch of the Better Brooklyn Association’s new street cleaning program, which took place on Wednesday, Oct. 30. City Councilmember Susan Zhuang allocated funds to underwrite the program, which will focus on a section of Eighth Avenue between 50th and 60th streets. Volunteers from the BBA will sweep and clean the streets and sidewalks on weekdays and some weekends.

“Our community needs to work together in order to keep our streets clean,” stated Zhuang. “I am proud to allocate funding to the Better Brooklyn Association to help get us closer to our goal of cleaner streets. I would like to thank BBA and all of their volunteers for their efforts in creating and launching this program. When our streets and sidewalks are clean, the quality of life in the community improves substantially.”

The Better Brooklyn Association serves the areas in and surrounding Sunset Park and Bensonhurst. The BBA recently held its “Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival: Inherit the Heritage” Asian American Traditional Culture Parade along Eighth Avenue, for which Zhuang was an honorary sponsor and which had the support of Assemblymembers William Colton (D-47) and Lester Chang (R-49) and several area organizations, according to banners carried during that event.
