BROOKLYN HEIGHTS – THE FORMER CAMPUS of St. Francis College, including three buildings on Joralemon and Remsen streets, is set to be converted to a massive mixed-use project by Rockrose Development, reports The Real Deal; Rockrose purchased the campus in 2023 for $160 million after the college relocated to Livingston Street in 2022. The new project will include 747 housing units, retail space and a 131-car, 375-bike underground parking garage. The landmarked 176 Remsen building, once the headquarters of the Brooklyn Union Gas Company, is included in the redevelopment plan, and has been approved for partial demolition and reconstruction, adding four stories.

The project attracted protests in August over the use of a controversial non-union demolition contractor.
