Teen fatally shot at Fort Greene housing project
FORT GREENE — POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the death of a teenage boy at a housing project in Fort Greene, Brooklyn late Saturday night, Oct. 26. According to the NYPD, officers received a 911 call at roughly 11:44 p.m. of a male shot at 32 Auburn Place, the site of the Whitman Houses, a short block from Fort Greene Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 16-year-old with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS transported him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A witness told 1010WINS that he heard multiple gunshots, “More than five.” Video posted on the Freedomnews website shows detectives examining the streets and sidewalks near Auburn Place and St. Edward’s Street, with small crime scene cones marking several locations.
There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said. The young man’s identity has not yet been released.
