The Federation of Italian American Organizations hosted the 42nd annual Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade on Saturday, Oct. 12, honoring prominent members of the community as marshals.

Among those honored was Joseph Rosato, the immediate past president of the Brooklyn Bar Association, alongside Councilmember David Carr; Dr. David Pretto, superintendent of Community School District 20; and Chiara Spagnolo, principal of P.S. 100.

The parade, known as the “Longest Parade in New York City,” began with a pre-parade mass at St. Athanasius Church on 61st Street before kicking off at 1 p.m. The procession traveled down 18th Avenue, culminating in a festive celebration at the Il Centro Community Center.

Joseph Rosato, a distinguished trial attorney, has made significant contributions to the legal community throughout his career. As the founding member of The Rosato Firm PC, he has secured over two hundred million dollars in verdicts and settlements, specializing in personal injury and complex litigation. His firm also provides trial services to other members of the bar.

Rosato’s extensive legal background includes degrees from New York University and Brooklyn Law School, admission to multiple state and federal courts, and selection as a New York Super Lawyer for personal injury cases. His early career began in insurance defense before he transitioned to plaintiff’s personal injury law with Schneider, Kleinick, Weitz, Damashek and Shoot.

Beyond his legal practice, Rosato has dedicated his time to improving the legal system through volunteer leadership roles. He has served as president of the Columbian Lawyers Association of Brooklyn, the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Kings County and as a director and treasurer of the Brooklyn Bar Association. He is also actively involved in various legal committees and continues to support immigrant communities through his work with Catholic Migration Services.
