Two arrested in Crown Heights road rage incident
CROWN HEIGHTS — A ROAD RAGE INCIDENT on Sunday escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, one of whom is a Lubavitch bochur, according to the local news website, CrownHeights.info. The altercation began near Eastern Parkway and Lincoln Place and stretched to Carroll St./Albany Ave. intersection, where both drivers exited their vehicles. Witnesses reported that the bochur was assaulted, and both drivers were injured. Local residents intervened before the NYPD and Hatzalah arrived. Both drivers were arrested following the incident, although the NYPD had not yet released details as of press time.
The word bochur describes a young, unmarried man between the ages of 13-21 who is engaged in full-time Torah study. According to Jewish tradition, boys become a “son of the commandment” (bar mitzvah) at age 13 and are adults for the purposes of Jewish practice, forming the 10-man prayer minyan and taking responsibility for their own actions.
