BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Montague Street may have been the chillest spot in Brooklyn during Oct. 13’s Open Streets Sundays.

The event was all about wellness, stress reduction and health, and locals knew the drill. Many came bearing yoga mats and wearing workout clothes to join in interval training, Pilates and yoga classes right on the street.

The mood was enhanced by treats from local restaurants and bakeries — and a number of visitors chose to bypass the classes and just relax at scattered tables on the car-free street. Mellow live music was provided by Rogue Connections.

Kate Chura, executive director of the Montague Street BID, said there will be two more Open Streets events this season. Next Sunday, Oct. 20, will highlight sustainability, with compost and bike-helmet giveaways, bike swaps and other activities sponsored by Councilmember Lincoln Restler. Entertainment will be provided by Bindlestiff Cirkus, and teen band sensation JAW is returning by popular demand. The final Open Streets on Sunday, Oct. 27 will feature the Halloween Spectacular.
