Theater 2020’s ‘Critters & Kindness’ presents new take on classic fables
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A NEW TAKE ON AESOP’S FABLES, complete with puppets and stuffed animals, is coming to the Brooklyn Heights Library this weekend. Theater 2020, Brooklyn Heights’ award-winning theater company, will host a free reading of “Critters & Kindness,” a new adaptation of Aesop’s Fables, on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the library on Cadman Plaza West. Resident Playwright Lynn Marie Macy wrote the script. Co-Producing Artistic Director Judith Jarosz is the director. During the performance, which is suitable for children and grownups, the puppets and animals will share life lessons on kindness and tenacity. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for the 2 p.m. reading, which runs about an hour. No reservations are needed, and the venue is fully accessible. Theater 2020, Inc. Visions for a New Millennium was founded in 2010. Judith Jarosz has performed, directed, choreographed or produced on Broadway and Off, at major regional houses, and the New York City Opera. Working with Ms. Jarosz are Co-Producing Artistic Director David Fuller and an ensemble group of board members.
Later shows this season include “Company!,” Stephen Sondheim’s Tony-Award winning musical; and an outdoor performance of King Lear at the Great Room in Clinton Hill and at outdoor park venues.
