An East Flatbush man has been charged with attempted murder and assault after allegedly attacking multiple women during a violent spree in Flatlands last August.

The suspect, Damally Cain, 24, has also been charged separately for assaulting a third woman earlier that day, according to District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

“This defendant allegedly committed a series of terrifying and unprovoked attacks against multiple women, and my office is working diligently to ensure that he is no longer a danger to our community,” Gonzalez said. “We have no tolerance for this kind of random violence in Brooklyn.”

Cain was arraigned before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Deepa Ambekar on Monday on charges that include second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and second- and third-degree attempted robbery. Cash bail was set, and he is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 12.

According to the DA’s Office, Cain’s alleged spree began on Sunday, Aug. 18, around 4:30 p.m., when he attacked a 52-year-old woman near 1608 Flatbush Ave. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the defendant pulling the victim to the ground, resulting in injuries to her elbow, knee, and back.

Minutes later, Cain allegedly attacked a 66-year-old woman at East 40th Street and Hubbard Place. Prosecutors say he pulled the woman to the ground, punched and kicked her in the face, and slammed her head against the pavement.

A bystander intervened, prompting Cain to flee. Cain left behind several personal items, including his passport and Social Security card. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was treated for bruising and lacerations.

Less than 10 minutes after the second assault, Cain allegedly attacked a 35-year-old woman near 1707 Flatbush Ave. He attempted to steal her phone and wallet, ripped out her ponytail extension and threw a drink in her face. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

Cain was arrested on Aug. 22. He is also facing a separate third-degree assault charge for the initial attack on the 52-year-old woman.
