Diddy appeals his incarceration
SUNSET PARK — HIP HOP STAR SEAN “DIDDY” COMBS APPEALED a judge’s decision to keep him locked up at the scandal-ridden Metropolitan Detention Center as he fights several charges including federal sex trafficking, racketeering and witness tampering charges, the Daily News reports.
Combs was arrested on Sept. 16, with prosecutors charging that he imprisoned women in hotel rooms, forcing them into violent sexual behavior in settings with copious amounts of drugs, as well as many bottles of lubricant and baby oil.
Writing to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Combs’ legal team protested what they called “extreme and unusual” measures of detaining the celebrity immediately after he was charged, even though prosecution knew about his very public antics.
The lawyers, in their intercession for Combs, wrote, “Indeed, hardly a risk of flight, he is a 54-year-old father of seven, a U.S. citizen, an extraordinarily successful artist, businessman and philanthropist, and one of the most recognizable people on earth.”
Combs has pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, coercion and transportation for purposes of prostitution — charges which carry a decades-long sentence if he is convicted.
