Cedar Tower wraps up construction at 60 Cedar Street in Bushwick
BUSHWICK — CONSTRUCTION IS NEAR COMPLETION ON THE CEDAR TOWER, an 18-story residential building at 60 Cedar Street, New York YIMBY reported.
The 197-foot tall building, for which Louis Handler is developer and S. Wieder Architects is the designer, offers 145 rental units, 42 (under 30%) of which are designated as affordable housing. The property also includes a 490-square-foot ambulatory health facility. Individual apartments have air conditioning, and new, brand-name appliances including dishwashers. The building facade’s design features floor-to-ceiling windows, with setbacks lined with glass railings positioned on the upper levels. Building amenities include a fitness center, shared laundry room, outdoor roof deck and a parking facility with 153 spaces. The building’s proximity to the M train at Central Avenue provides convenient transportation options.
Many of those posting on YIMBY’S comments section praised the fact that the space, previously a surface parking lot, was turned into a building. One poster, however, lamented that the majority (103) of the units are not identified as being in the “affordable” category.
