Willowtown’s popular Clover Hill welcomes new head chef this month
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — CLOVER HILL, A STAPLE OF BROOKLYN’S FINE DINING SCENE, got a new head chef, Sam Rogers. Starting Oct. 11, Rogers will head the kitchen of the Michelin star-rated restaurant situated at 20 Columbia Place, in the southern Brooklyn Heights enclave of Willowtown.
Clover Hill’s founder and general manager, Clay Castillo, expressed excitement over Rogers joining the team, emphasizing that their philosophies align. Rogers aims to evolve the restaurant’s elegant and intimate dining experience, making an impact on both the local community and broader culinary scene. Rogers will succeed Charlie Mitchell, who was rated the best chef in New York State by the James Beard Foundation, the first Black chef in New York to win this honor.
Mitchell recently left Clover Hill to become the executive chef at Saga, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Manhattan, after the death of its founder, Jamal James Kent.
