BOROUGH PARK/WILLIAMSBURG — BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS BEING TREATED at Maimonides Medical Center will walk the runway on Tuesday night, Oct. 1, to honor their journeys and embrace second chances. Maimonides’ popular tradition, the Pink Runway, celebrates cancer survivors’ perseverance and raises critical awareness about the importance of screening and early detection to save lives.

The 2024 Pink Runway show is inspired by Gustav Klimt’s Tree of Life, a powerful symbol of resilience, renewal and the complex beauty of life. Klimt’s swirling, spiraling branches represent the perpetual journey of growth and transformation, much like the experiences of breast cancer patients. The intertwining vines and delicate threads in the artwork reflect the strength and fragility of life, mirroring the courage and endurance of those who have faced and continue to fight breast cancer. Models will wear custom designs made for them by Dhinora Montalvo, lead designer and president of Dotti, a renowned fashion brand celebrated for its stylish and versatile swim cover-ups.

This year’s show, hosted at Weylin, the iconic Williamsburg landmark on Broadway, uses Klimt’s bold, original expression of the Tree of Life as a guiding motif to celebrate both survival and vibrant rebirth that comes with second chances.
