CROWN HEIGHTS — AS THE COMMUNITY GEARS UP FOR THE YOMIM TOVIM next week, the Crown Heights-based non-profit Chevras Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov (CSSY) is working to ensure no family is left without food or essentials during the Days of Awe that begin with Erev Rosh Hashanah, starting on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at sundown.

Facing a significant rise in food prices and the challenge of this ten-day period, which includes the Break-the-Fast meal at the conclusion of Yom Kippur, the organization has received over 400 requests for assistance.

CSSY, a vital support system in the community, was founded 40 years ago by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, relies heavily on donations to meet a growing demand of food requests.

Community members are encouraged to contribute, with donations going directly to help families celebrate Yom Tov with dignity. For those seeking help or wishing to donate, CSSY can be reached through their website or by contacting their office at 718-774-5270.
