GRACIE MANSION — MAYOR ERIC ADAMS HIRED HIGH-PROFILE LAWYER ALEX SPIRO of Quinn Emanuel law firm following the unsealing of a 57-page indictment of federal corruption charges against him on Thursday, Sept. 26, Bloomberg Law and Billboard.com reported.

One of the nation’s best known and outspoken attorneys, Spiro represents Elon Musk, particularly in the $44 billion takeover of Twitter Inc., which became the social media platform X. He also represented celebrities: Spiro represented Alec Baldwin involving the fatal shooting during production of the movie “Rust.” The charges against Baldwin were dismissed during trial. Also representing Adams, according to the New York Times, are WilmerHale partners Brendan McGuire and Boyd Johnson III.

The mayor has faced investigations from Damian Williams, Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office (Southern District, NY), who is also investigating a corruption case against New Jersey’s Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez. During a raucous press conference on Thursday, Adams was heckled as he declared his innocence, vowing to stay in office and fight the charges.
