Runway show spotlights women designers Friday at Brooklyn Public Library
GRAND ARMY PLAZA — THE BROOKLYN FASHION ACADEMY will host a runway show Friday evening, the culmination of Brooklyn Public Library’s free 16-week intensive fashion education program. Professional models will showcase the designers’ capsule collections in the grand lobby at Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza.
Project Runway All Star Benjamin Mach serves as the lead instructor for the program which combines BPL resources with the expertise of those working in the fashion industry. Participants work on a capsule collection while attending classes and learning about design, market research, sourcing and sustainability. This year, in a joint effort with Women.NYC, the runway show closes NYC’s Climate Week, and models will share the stage with fifteen outstanding women leaders who are putting our city at the forefront of the green economy.
The theme for this year’s show is Women of Future Industries: From Runway to Role Model. The president and CEO of Strut Models, Shaw Bernard, will host. The show begins at 6 p.m. Register for free at bklynlibrary.org.
