CITYWIDE — DR. JAY K. VARMA, the senior public health adviser under Mayor Bill de Blasio from April 2020 to May 2021 (the first year of the pandemic), threw sex parties, took party drugs and attended a dance party with 200 party-goers in a space underneath a Wall Street bank during the height of the pandemic. At the same time, he was instructing New York City residents to stay home and isolate themselves to stop the spread of the disease, the New York Times reports. A  video showing Varma bragging about his exploits to an unseen female was posted online Thursday by the conservative podcaster Steven Crowder.

Queens Councilmember Robert Holden (D- 30) called on Mayor Eric Adams to investigate Varma and for the city to drop its cases against city workers who sued after being fired for refusing to comply with Covid vaccine mandates. On Facebook Sunday, Holden posted, “Dr. Jay Varma is a hypocrite. Varma is a dirtbag.
