Cuomo, visiting Central Brooklyn church, paints gloomy picture of state of New York
BEDFORD -STUYVESANT — FORMER GOV. ANDREW CUOMO appeared to be in full campaign mode on Sunday as he painted a gloomy picture of the state of New York, called himself a true progressive and compared himself to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt during a visit to Bedford Central Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, continuing his pattern of regular speeches before Black congregations.
“Things are getting worse, not better, and I think we need to take a fresh look with a new perspective,” Cuomo said, blaming “so-called progressives” for a long list of society’s ills. Cuomo spoke about construction projects completed under the FDR administration and then touted his own as governor, including “a new LaGuardia airport, new Second Avenue subway, new Kosciuszko Bridge” and more. “All to improve YOUR life,” he emphasized.
Other Central Brooklyn churches recently visited by Cuomo include God’s Battalion of Prayer Church, Christian Cultural Center and First Baptist Church of Crown Heights.
