BUSHWICK — POLICE ARE SEEKING A MAN WHO SHOVED a commuter onto the subway tracks in Bushwick early Thursday morning, the Daily News reports. The man had approached a woman, 62, asking her for a cigarette lighter and then provoked an argument before punching her and then shoving her to the tracks at the Jefferson St. L train station, at around 5:55 a.m. According to CBS News (Channel 2)’s report, the woman did not respond to the assailant’s demand for the lighter.

Other commuters, horrified by the attack, pulled the woman back onto the platform before any train arrived. She was transported to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for head injuries and a swollen foot. The attacker fled.

Anyone with any information about the attack is asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish, or submit a tip on their website.
