Ice skating to return to Brooklyn Bridge Park with new vendor rink
Less expensive, same knock-out views
DUMBO — Ice skating will be back at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza under the Brooklyn Bridge this winter — and while the views will still be spectacular, the skating will be more affordable.
The Board of the Brooklyn Bridge Park approved a proposal by The Experiential Group at its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday to run the rink’s second year in the park. The Experiential Group is the same production agency behind “The Hill in New York” Wimbledon watch party experience held in the park.
“We believe that, based on last year’s prices, this will make Brooklyn Bridge Park the lowest-priced ice-skating rink in the city,” Eric Landau, President of Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, said in a statement.
Admission will cost just $10 for all ages and all times, with no peak pricing, and with equally-affordable skate rentals, according to a TEG spokesperson. Last year’s peak price for an out-of-town adult was as high as $25. There will also be free skating sessions on offer during weekdays and weekends, though the details are still being finalized.
The ice-skating rink will be the same size as last year, but the rest of the footprint will be smaller, TEG told the Brooklyn Eagle. There will be hot chocolate for sale and possibly light treats, but not a full cafe this year since there are so many food options in the vicinity.
