NY Transit Museum celebrates 120 years of the subway with exhibit, nostalgia rides
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — THE NEW YORK TRANSIT MUSEUM will be celebrating 120 years of the NYC subway system with a new exhibit, “The Subway Is …” opening Sept. 26 at the unique underground museum in a former subway station in Downtown Brooklyn. Complementing the exhibit, the museum will also host four Inaugural Run Nostalgia Rides on vintage Lo-V subway cars from 1917, retracing the original route of New York’s first subway line. The museum will be launching a city-wide social media campaign on Subway Day, Oct. 27.
From the moment the first train rumbled beneath the city streets on Oct. 27th, 1904, the subway has not only moved millions of people but also shaped the very fabric of the city, the Museum said in a release Tuesday.
