New record shop opens doors in Park Slope
PARK SLOPE — REFLECTING A RESURGED APPRECIATION FOR VINYL LPS, A NEW RECORD SHOP, STERLING RECORDS, OPENED IN PARK SLOPE. Owned by Gary Giddens, a London native and long-time Brooklyn resident, the store offers a wide variety of vinyl records, CDs, cassettes and music-themed items like tote bags and puzzles. Notably, Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode is an investor. Giddens, who also runs Gowanus Gardens bar and restaurant, plans to expand the shop with a coffee area and outdoor space. Sterling Records caters to various music tastes, from punk to Taylor Swift.
Other record shops have also made Fifth Avenue their home, including Sterling Records on Fifth Avenue near Sterling Place.
