WILLIAMSBURG — A BROOKLYN MOTHER, ANGELICA VASQUEZ, EXPRESSED OUTRAGE AFTER HER 5-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER was left unattended in a schoolyard at PS 250 in Williamsburg on the first day of school last week, reports WPIX11 News. Vasquez learned from her child that a pedestrian, not a staff member, found her. She is now pushing for improved safety measures, particularly that schools make sure that gates are closed during school hours. Vasquez also questioned why neither of the two teachers assigned to the classroom at this elementary school noticed her child was missing.

NYC Schools stated they are investigating the incident and working with the district and the school in question to improve safety protocols.
