New legal cannabis shop opens Friday in Brooklyn

FLATBUSH — A NEW STATE-LICENSED cannabis dispensary, Brooklyn Bourne, opened Friday at 2225 Church Ave. in Little Caribbean. The shop is supported by the New York Cannabis Social Equity Investment Fund, meant to provide opportunities for justice-involved individuals. Owner Tyronne Bourne is described in a release by the State Office of Cannabis Management as a Brooklyn native who was a victim of stop-and-frisk policies when he was a teenager. “I want this dispensary to be a tribute to my family and to Brooklyn,” said Bourne, who has a background in financial services, education and information technology.

This is the twelfth legal weed shop to be licensed in Brooklyn, according to the Office of Cannabis Management.
