DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — THE FIRE DEPARTMENT is set to honor 32 firefighters, EMTs and other members who passed away recently from illnesses related to the rescue operations at the World Trade Center site. More than 360 rescue workers have passed away from complications from the 9/11 attacks in the intervening years. FDNY will hold a ceremony at its Brooklyn Commons (MetroTech) headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn on Wednesday, commemorating the dead and adding their names to the FDNY World Trade Center Memorial Wall.

The ceremony will take place on Sept. 4 at 4 p.m., and is set to be streamed on the FDNY’s government webpage and YouTube channel.
