PROSPECT HEIGHTS — ACCORDING TO MULTIPLE REPORTS from NetsDaily and from Chinese media, the Brooklyn Nets are close to signing Xongyi “Jacky” Cui, a 6’8” shooting guard from China, to a two-way contract. Cui, 21, is considered one of China’s top young basketball prospects. He has had a notable development path, starting with the NBA Global Academy in Australia, and later playing two strong seasons with the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

If the deal goes through, Cui would become the first Chinese player to join the Nets since Joe and Clara Wu Tsai took ownership of the team. The signing is seen as a move to boost the Nets’ popularity in China, where the team already has a significant following on Chinese social media platforms like Weibo.
