DOWNTOWN — TAINTED CHICKEN, BRIBERY AND EXTORTION: Eric Goldstein, former CEO of the NYC Education Department’s massive food, bus and school sports operations, is slated to be sentenced Sept. 9 in Brooklyn Federal Court, along with the three corrupt businessmen he conspired with, the Daily News reports. “I am writing to you as a deeply remorseful, broken, defeated, publicly humiliated man who is utterly terrified for what will happen to his two sons, former spouse and loved ones,” Goldstein wrote in a letter to U.S. Circuit Judge Denny Chin in August. In June 2023, a federal jury in Brooklyn returned guilty verdicts on all counts for  Goldstein, along with crooked food company execs Blaine Iler, Michael Turley and Brian Twomey.

During the trial, “grossed-out jurors saw pictures of bone- and metal-filled chicken tenders and chicken drumsticks oozing blood,” the News said.
