BROWNSVILLE — A DRIVER WAS ARRESTED AFTER A SERIES OF CRASHES IN BROWNSVILLE, culminating in an overturned minivan at the intersection of Livonia Avenue and Rockaway Parkway on Saturday, Aug. 31. The 61-year-old man first struck two pedestrians — a 26-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl — at a crosswalk, NBC 4 NEW YORK reported.  He sped off for a couple of intersections before colliding into two parked cars, which surveillance cameras captured. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with some helping to overturn the vehicle to rescue the driver. A deliveryman named Danny also witnessed the driver’s collision with the pedestrians before making a U-turn and racing off. Following the driver on his bike, Danny also witnessed the crash into the parked vehicles.

Evidence of alcohol was found at the scene, including a bottle of Hennessy Cognac outside the car and another bottle inside. The woman and child were taken to the hospital in stable condition, and are expected to recover.
