Brooklyn’s Ingersoll Houses has been granted $30,000
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — INGERSOLL HOUSES, A NYCHA DEVELOPMENT IN DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, HAS been granted $30,000, and the community is trying to figure out how best to use it. The ideas under consideration include better lighting and more after-school programs. Past grants have led to the creation of various amenities, such as a basketball court and a mural. Kenesha Traynham-Cooper, the delegate from the Mayor’s Action Plan for Public Safety team and 56th Assembly District Leader, is leading the initiative and handing ballots across the property, according to PIX11, stating that the most important aspect is that the ideas come from the residents.
Neighborhood stat stakeholder teams, the creators of the original grassroots movement that led to the funding, organized a collective effort to assess how to improve well-being and public safety across 30 NYCHA developments.
