Arrow Linen’s planned site in Park Slope concerns community
PARK SLOPE — THE COMMUNITY GROUP HOUSING NOT HIGHRISES IS ADVOCATING for a 100% affordable housing development instead of the proposed 13- to 19-story majority market-rate towers on the Arrow Linen industrial site in South Slope. Founded in Brooklyn originally, but now headquartered in Garden City, Arrow Linen is converting its facility into a housing development.
Housing Not Highrises claims to have found a developer willing to build a shorter and fully affordable complex, opposing Arrow Linen’s current plans for a mixed market-rate and affordable construction plan. Brooklyn Community Board 7 scheduled a hybrid public hearing on Monday, Sept. 9, to discuss the proposals. This meeting takes place at Holy Name Church-Shepherd’s Hall, 245 Prospect Park West. People can attend virtually or watch on Community Board 7’s YouTube Channel. An agenda of the Sept. 9 meeting posted on Community Board 7’s website indicates that Arrow Linen, owner of 441 & 467 Prospect Avenue, will make a presentation concerning its request for approval and zoning amendments as well as a permit for off-street parking spaces.
As the agenda is expected to spill over the time limit, a second, virtual-only meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12.
