‘hololive’ fans gathered in Downtown Brooklyn, and it was totally adorable
DOWNTOWN — Grown adults wearing stuffed dolls and dressed as mythical anime characters took over Cadman Plaza Park in Downtown Brooklyn on Saturday, and it couldn’t have been more enchanting.
As part of anime weekend in New York City, hundreds of fans of ‘hololive’ gathered in the park to cosplay, buy merchandise and celebrate the group’s concerts at the Javits Center and Brooklyn’s Kings Theater during Anime NYC 2024.
Hololive is a Virtual YouTuber (VTuber) collaborative that livestreams and creates Japanese pop culture content on platforms including YouTube and interacts with enthusiastic international fans on social media.
The stars perform behind anime-style avatars, and on Saturday, fans came to Downtown Brooklyn dressed as their personal favorites. These included Nanashi Mumei, “The Guardian of Civilization,” and Ceres Fauna, “The Keeper of Nature.”
The “hololive STAGE World Tour ’24 Soar!” concert took place at Anime NYC 2024 on Friday, while the 15 members of hololive English performed in “Breaking Dimension,” at Kings Theater on Saturday and Sunday.
