CROWN HEIGHTS — BROOKLYN D.A. ERIC Gonzalez last week announced that rapper and alleged gang member Jared “Jah Woo” McCauley, age 21, of Brooklyn, has been arraigned and charged with second-degree murder and 12 other offenses in the February shooting in Crown Heights of 13-year-old Troy Gill. Co-defendant, Sheik Koureichi, 21, a longtime friend and associate of McCauley, was arraigned last month on the same indictment. On the night of Feb. 29, according to the D.A., McCauley and Koureichi allegedly shot Gill from a white Jeep as the middle-schooler returned home from a basketball game, in revenge for an incident earlier in the day in which McCauley had been allegedly beaten and stripped naked by a rival gang, whose members recorded the attack and posted it on social media; Gill was able to escape from the shooters and flee, calling his mother for help, but succumbed to his injuries before emergency services could aid him, and was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

McCauley and Koureichi were also indicted for allegedly shooting up the front door of an alleged gang rival’s house in East New York; both defendants were ordered held without bail.
