It’s about to get a little simpler to vend at street fairs in NYC
CITYWIDE — NYC IS CHANGING ITS RULES to repeal a requirement that vendors at street fairs obtain a temporary general vending license. According to the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, getting a temporary vending license represents an unnecessary step for street fair vendors because it doesn’t add any new requirements for the vendors, who are already overseen by the city’s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO). “Additionally, this license can create confusion for vendors who otherwise require a regular general vendor license to vend in public outside of the street fair context,” the city’s Rules Office said.
The new rules go into effect Aug. 30.
