OCEAN HILL — FIREFIGHTERS RESCUED AN adult man and a cat from an Ocean Hill apartment fire on Thursday, reports the Brooklyn Paper, after the man “barricaded” himself inside the building’s basement. Although emergency responders attempted to convince the man to come out, he refused, and set the home alight. Firefighters quickly gained access to the basement and rescued the man, who had gone unconscious from smoke inhalation and is currently in a local hospital in critical condition, as well as an unconscious cat, who EMS was able to revive with CPR and oxygen.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries from the blaze.
