As part of its ongoing efforts to connect with the community, the Kings County Clerk’s Office, led by Hon. Nancy Sunshine, joined the GrowNYC Farmers Market on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Clerk’s Office staff engaged with market-goers, distributing a variety of court-related materials and sharing crucial information on services provided by the office.

The outreach event focused on educating the public about the process for filing the DD 214 (Certificate of Release/Discharge from Active Duty) with the County Clerk’s Office and the importance of participating in jury service. Staff members also provided details on how to volunteer for jury duty and explained its role in the judicial system.

In addition to promoting these services, the Clerk’s Office highlighted career opportunities within the New York State Unified Court System, directing attendees to the NYS Unified Court System Careers website.

The Kings County Clerk’s Office plays a vital role in the legal and public spheres, serving as the official record-keeper for a wide range of court documents and legal filings in Brooklyn.

For lawyers, the Clerk’s Office is an essential resource for filing legal documents, obtaining certified copies of records and managing case-related paperwork. The office also handles the filing of judgments, liens and other important legal instruments, ensuring the smooth operation of the court system.

For the general public, the Clerk’s Office provides services such as processing passport applications, maintaining notary public and commissioner of deeds records, and assisting with jury service. It acts as a bridge between the courts and the community, offering access to essential legal information and services that uphold the integrity of the judicial process.
