Adams swears in Robert Tucker as new FDNY commissioner
CITYWIDE — MAYOR ERIC ADAMS on Monday swore in Robert S. Tucker, Esq. as the 35th commissioner of the Fire Department of the City of New York. Tucker will succeed Laura Kavanagh, who stepped down last week. Tucker serves as secretary of the FDNY Foundation, is an honorary NYC fire commissioner, and his first job in 1985 was at the FDNY, Adams said in a release. For the past 25 years Tucker has directed T&M Protection Resources, a private security solutions and cyber intelligence company headquartered in the Helmsley Building on Park Avenue, where he is currently chairman and CEO. Previously he served as special assistant in the Office of the Queens County District Attorney, among other positions.
Andrew Ansbro, president of the FDNY Uniformed Firefighters Association, and James Brosi, president of the FDNY Uniformed Fire Officers Association, said in statements that their organizations look forward to working with Tucker, citing his long ties with FDNY.
