Officer arrested for allegedly harassing girlfriend

BUSHWICK — NYPD OFFICER ZAID Zeidyyeh, 25, was arrested on Tuesday evening for allegedly stalking and harassing his ex-girlfriend, reports amNY. Sources told the paper that according to the victim, the officer had sent her a string of threatening text messages. Zeidyyeh was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and fourth-degree stalking, and has been temporarily suspended from the department.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli last October released a report showing that reports of domestic violence incidents, including stalking, had risen by 8.5% in NYC since before the coronavirus pandemic.
