BENSONHURST — THE POLICE OFFICER allegedly bitten by City Councilmember Susan Zhuang at a Bensonhurst protest earlier this month is stunned over the incident, which sent him to the hospital for treatment, reports the New York Post, and has told friends that he is upset the councilmember has not reached out to offer an apology. “After 31 years on the job, I’ve never been bitten, and I can’t believe someone would just bite another human being… I can’t imagine someone would want to have somebody else’s blood in their mouth,” Deputy Chief Frank DiGiacomo reportedly said, adding that he believed Zhuang would receive a slap on the wrist, but “I at least thought there would be an apology or acknowledgement of what happened. But she just keeps doubling down.”

Zhuang has pleaded not guilty and has argued that she was acting in defense of an elderly fellow protester. She has allegedly said that the bite occurred in response to being choked by the officer.
