Crown Heights street wins ‘Greenest Block’ award
CROWN HEIGHTS — A LEAFY BLOCK of Lincoln Place in Crown Heights, between New York and Nostrand avenues, has won this year’s “Greenest Block in Brooklyn” award, reports Time Out New York. More than 100 blocks from across the borough competed for the honor, as well as for cash prizes. The block’s residents formed a gardening committee called P.L.A.N.T. to coordinate Lincoln Place’s greenery and displays, as well as to mentor budding gardeners from other areas. P.L.A.N.T also won the contest in 2022 and 2019, and stated that they look forward to competing again in 2026.
This year’s theme was “Natural Attractions,” and highlighted the importance of urban pollinators, such as bees and birds.
