Baby Wants Candy Improv @ BCC
Comedy, Improv
Brooklyn Comedy Collective, Eris Mainstage, 167 Graham Ave, Williamsburg
Saturday, Aug. 10 @ 7 p.m. (every Saturday)
“Baby Wants Candy” is one of the longest-running and most renowned improv shows in the world. The production is entirely improvised: every song, character, and line of dialogue is created on the spot, inspired by audience suggestions.
With performances in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles and an international touring company, “Baby Wants Candy” has cultivated a dedicated worldwide fanbase and has delivered over 3,500 fully improvised musicals. If the show is sold out online, there will be limited tickets available at the door.
“Featuring a talent-rich cast with experience in comedy and musical theater, “Candy” improvises a new musical from scratch with each performance… performed all over the world, from Edinburgh to Singapore. Not only do the six performers develop consistent story lines and a sprawling cast of characters, but also rhyming lyrics and some crude, synchronized choreography.” — Jason Zinoman, The New York Times
“[Philip] Markle is the owner and artistic director at the four-year-old comedy theater in East Williamsburg. According to Markle, BCC splits proceeds from ticket sales with performers, which he calls a rare chance for amateur and emerging performers to actually make money from their comedy.” — Will McDonald, Bushwick Daily
