‘Unity in the Community” is focus of GodSquad’s upcoming youth summit
EAST FLATBUSH — YOUTHS WILL HAVE THEIR SAY about building unity within their communities, during a summit that the GodSquad/67th Precinct Clergy Council taking place this Thursday. Samuel J. Tilden High School will host GodSquad’s Unity in the Community Youth Summit, starting with a resource fair at 6 p.m. on Aug. 8. A discussion will follow, with young leaders offering an evening of reflection, dialogue and artistic expression. The adult leaders will also hold virtual summits on gun violence prevention, the first of which takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 2-3 p.m. Clergy and faith leaders nationwide will present new initiatives for 2025 focused on the theme, “Using Partnerships to Build Safe Cities to #EndGunViolence.”
The GodSquad, which recently celebrated its 14th anniversary gala at Dyker Beach Golf Course, was formally established in 2010 with the full cooperation of the 67th Precinct and is considered “a valued partner in the fight against gun violence, guided by the belief that the welfare and safety of our diverse community is our shared responsibility,” according to the charitable organization’s website.
