Town Hall tonight on flood preparedness

BUSHWICK — FLOOD MITIGATION PREPAREDNESS AND CLIMATE CHANGE are the focus of a town hall that is taking place in Bushwick on Tuesday night, Aug. 6. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection is partnering with elected officials, community boards and local organizations to hold flood kit distribution events and information sessions around the city, supplying flood barriers, sump pumps and flood sensors. DEP staff will discuss what the city government is doing to fortify neighborhoods in the face of climate change. I.S. 291K, 231 Palmetto St.,is hosting the Flood Preparedness Town Hall with doors at 6 p.m. and the DEP’s presentation starting at 6:30 p.m.

The information and tools provided at these events are meant to empower residents and business owners to protect their properties from the damaging effects of extreme weather.
