CLINTON HILL — HOUSE MINORITY LEADER Hakeem Jeffries on Monday joined MTA chief Janno Lieber and community members at a groundbreaking ceremony for an accessibility-focused overhaul of the Classon Ave. G station in Clinton Hill, reports the Brooklyn Paper. Classon Ave. is one of 13 stations chosen to receive upgrades to help bring the system into compliance with federal disability legislation, with a total cost of $850 million. The upgrades will include three new elevators, a widened staircase and an expanded mezzanine, as well as several other quality-of-life upgrades like upgrades to lighting and signaling systems.

“Today represents an incredibly positive step forward, particularly to make sure that those with physical challenges and those who have slowed down a little bit as they’ve become older can move back and forth and do the things necessary to live their best life,” Jeffries stated.
