BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK — BROOKLYNITES OF ALL AGES are invited to gather in Brooklyn Bridge Park on Tuesday, Aug. 6, beginning at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate National Night Out, presented by the 84th Precinct Community Council. The celebration — with free hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, beverages, snacks, ice cream and Spanish ices, plus community honors, safety information and entertainment by pianist Kay Sublime and Brooklyn Diamonds Drill Team — will take place at the Picnic Peninsula at Pier 5. The event is one of about a dozen Night Out gatherings across Brooklyn, meant to build positive relationships with the police and help make neighborhoods safer. Transportation provided to the disabled and elderly by the 84th Precinct. Call (718) 875-6850 three days in advance.

Weather alert: According to NYC Emergency Management, each precinct will decide on the advisability of staging its celebration, taking weather and flood warnings issued by the National Weather Service into account.
