Maimonides Bay Ridge ED’s first birthday, with plans for pediatric ER underway
BAY RIDGE — MAIMONIDES HEALTH RECENTLY MARKED A SUCCESSFUL FIRST YEAR of operations at the Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department (ED), serving Southern Brooklyn communities with 24/7 emergency care. These neighborhoods had seen a void in emergency room access for almost 15 years until Maimonides last year opened the emergency department at the site of the former Victory Memorial Hospital. The facility’s development was the first step in Maimonides’ long-term initiative to transform emergency care in Southern Brooklyn. During its first year, the Emergency Department has served more than 13,000 patients, more than 90% of whom are Brooklyn residents. Maimonides Bay Ridge ED has achieved the highest patient satisfaction score in Brooklyn with an average patient wait time of five minutes. The Emergency Department begins its second year with development currently underway for a new, expanded pediatric emergency department, which will become the only standalone pediatric emergency department in all of Brooklyn, a borough with over 630,000 children.
The expected completion time for Maimonides Health’s new facilities is late 2025 to early 2026.
